Happy Birthday Bob Nesta Marley!!

(6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) a Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician. He was the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands The Wailers (1964–1974) and Bob Marley & The Wailers (1974–1981). Marley remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience.

There was a party at Labodi Beach on Sunday celebrating Bob Marley's birthday. It was the end of a weekend of lectures sponsored by the Rita Marley foundation. Shaye and I went and this party was sooooooo nice!!! Rita Marley was in attendeance and they showed films about Bob Marley's life and other reggae artists. Candles were lit in his memory and a cake was cut. The bands were incredible and I wound up staying until 2:30 a.m. in spite of the fact that I had a 8:30 class on Monday morning. (When will I learn). I have four classes on Mondays and needless to say, I was wiped out.

I have only visited a couple of African countires since I've been here and grew up in the U.S., but Shaye and I are in agreement that Ghana has some of the finest men that we have ever seen in our entire lives. It is truly a sight to behold!!!
